Decadence, thy name is Nutella.
Per the World Nutella Day website:
Sara from Ms. Adventures in Italy and Michelle from Bleeding Espresso (and Shelley from At Home in Rome, in spirit) solemnly declare Friday, February 5th “World Nutella Day 2010″ – a day to celebrate, to get creative with, and most importantly, to EAT Nutella.
Because I like to do what I'm told...
Disclaimer: (Is it still a disclaimer if it comes after the thing it's disclaiming? Or does it technically have to come before and warn you of the badness ahead? Anyways...) Video is 7 and a half minutes of Amanda time, largely uncut, until the ending at which point there is a large, abrupt, dramatic cut that is jarring at best. I understand but I'm too tired to do any better. Remember that the time between when I learned of Nutella Day and the time of posting was about three hours.
For the readers among you, here's the recipe:
gather...
Two slices of pound cake
Smathering of Nutella (As much as you can handle... It's a holiday after all.)
Banana slices (six fit on my slices)
do...
Make the sandwich, kids. I really should have to explain it, right?
Panini that thing on the middle setting for 2 minutes.
Eat and enjoy.

This totally explains the giggly girls at Publix buying a single can of nutella really slowly and with small change. Stupid world nutella day, slowing me down.... :)
I really want a Nutella crepe now. Thanks a lot.
The video is claiming to be private, and it won't let me watch it. :( Fix this now!
Silly, YouTube!
It's fixed now. Thanks for the heads up, Evan!
And Kira, thanks for watching my vid. ;)
my husband had nutella this morning and didn't even know that it is World Nutella Day. I believe he will break out the spoon upon hearing that.
Loved the OMG expression at the end of the video! Now I'm thinking a panini maker is in my future!
1) Do you love your panini maker? Really, really love it?? (I want one.)
2) I've never had nutella before - is that wrong?
3) I love your apron!
My friends make fun of me for pronouncing it "Nut-Ella." But sounds better to me!
Barbara & Grace: Thanks for watching, first of all! Second... the panini press is fab and it's fun to smoosh a sandwich and make it an entirely new bird. How-ev-er, I haven't been able to (yet) make a panini as good as any I've had outside my home. I'm excited to buy some shmancier ingredients though and really go at it. I've just used boring ol' lunch meat. My blunder.
Thanks for getting it working again. I came back tonight just to make sure I got my World Nutella Day Amanda fix.
Several other comments:
1.) An Elvis is peanut butter, bananas, and honey, cooked in a skillet with butter like grilled cheese.
2.) Fluff is always a good idea.
3.) Those are some wicked thick slices of pound cake. I like.
4.) In honor of World Nutella Day, which I had not even heard of until yesterday, I made accidental Nutella crepes tonight. I was making buttermilk pancakes, but the batter turned out thinner than planned, so I made it into crepe batter (admittedly with choc. chips), then whipped up some Nutella crepes.
5.) You inspired me to make beer bread, too.
6.) You're so cute when you struggle with food.
7.) I kind of wanted to make this, but our local Kroger was completely out of bananas, after everyone rushed it for the snowpocalypse of this weekend in Virginia.
Thank you for stopping by!! Then I got to discover your blog...how fun! Lovin the Nutella Panini. I wish I had known before now that it was National Nutella Day. Oh well, I guess I'll have to celebrate tomorrow :)
STUPID GOOD!! ;D
This is AWESOME Amanda! Thanks so much for sending this in; Nutella and bananas is probably my favorite combo...and what's not better when it's smooshed together?!
'not kill yourself with smear day' hilarious!
hmmm.... I think the panini press needs to come out.
You totally inspired me to make this sandwich today (except I just used sandwich bread)..... OMG! HEAVEN!
