BaconEggAndCheese!!!

or How Breakfast Says "I Love You"

By this point, you probably all know that I love breakfast. What I know that you may not know is that breakfast loves me back. With all her eggy, protein-rich heart. How do I know this?

BaconEggAndCheese sandwiches.

There is no breakfast food more rewarding than a perfectly constructed baconeggandcheese. And, yes, a proper one deserves to be one word. Out of respect.

Anyway, this particular sandwich was made with two buttered, toasted slices of my homemade honey whole wheat bread. I scramble-fried two eggs (I said protein-rich, right? Well... I meant it.) and topped those eggs with one and a half slices of good ol' American cheese. Three strips of bacon later, this sandwich was perfect.

(My picture of her is not quite so perfect... but I was hungry. And impatient.)

Now... here I might lose some people, but I don't care. I like to enjoy my baconeggandcheese with a bit of ketchup for dipping. It's magical and I will hear no criticism of the practice. Well... I might hear it, but it won't bother me.

Here's something that might bother me though:

I bought this ready-for-the-microwave bacon the other day. It stays in the fridge and fairly easily cooks up in it's space packaging if you give it enough time. What's troubling is that it dispenses itself. Like a kleenex. Am I the only one who finds this really bizarre?? (o_O)

This post is dedicated to the late, great Patrick Swayze. (._.) He's like the wind through my trees.

I LOVE breakfast sandwiches...the whole spectrum from McDonalds to fancy ones called "Breakfast Ciabatta" or whatever. I of course leave off the bacon, but it's still great. Way better than a veggie burger.

Um yes Kleenex Bacon is worrying. How bizarre!

Never seen anything quite like "kleenex bacon"! But hey the sandwich looks great...especially on that homemade bread! Doesn't homemade bread make the biggest difference!?!?

More than just the dispensing worries me about that bacon. I think the texture is weird - do you? Regardless, the sandwich is no doubt delicious! It really is in the bread, huh?

Anita: I have only used this bacon in things, so I can't really say. I crumbled some up in the turkey burgers and then I nuked it to a farethewell for use in this sandwich. I think that if I decide to have mainstage bacon, I'll probs just bake it.

that bacon tissue box is kinda disturbing. I buy a lb of bacon and then i lie them on plastic wrap one next to the other. Then roll it up so you have a log of bacon and put it in the freezer. then you can easily peel off the bacon one strip at a time and you don't have to eat a lb of bacon at once. and your sandwich looks great. i may need to try that recipe as well. though I will definitely need to halve or quarter it.

Ash, your "morning delights" comment cracked me up! It's sooo true... but it also reminds me of Afternoon Delight. Which then reminds me of Will Ferrell on a picnic blanket and... ya know... my mom's ringtone. (Not kidding!) :)

well, as that is Hormel Bacon, the greatest bacon in the world, I wouldn't worry about the kleenex aspect of it...easy out (of the box), easy in (your mouth), as they say in the homeland.

besides. it's bacon. delicious, glorious bacon. and it does taste fine on its own.

i would shy away from the precooked bacon though. while it is, technically bacon, and you can eat it cold right out of the package, there's just something about it...
